  1. Coy,

Just read your story. I had C6-C7 fusion back around 1996. For mine, they went through the back of my neck.

I was playing a friendly game of football with some friends while at Purdue during an unusually nice late fall day. I tackled someone and someone else tripped backwards and bent my neck forward over the other guy’s shoulder. I stopped playing 30 minutes later when I went out for a pass and my right arm didn’t come up to catch the ball.

I wore a hard collar for 3 months so my doctors could see if all the ligaments would stabilize. My weight dropped from 165 down to 118 over that time.

My neck doesn’t hurt much anymore, only the spot on my hip where they took the graft and I still have some weakness in my arm. But all that is a small price to pay for the wonderful life and family I have today.

Anyway, wanted to thank you for your story and wish you the best of luck.

    Thanks,
    Matt
